Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have recitals?

We have a minimum of two performance opportunities a year. Most years we offer more opportunities! These include events such as:

  • Halloween Concert - This event takes place in costume and includes games and a trunk-or-treat.

  • Holiday Concert - We share our music at local nursing facilities. We play our favorite holiday songs and sing together as a group.

  • Jam With The Band Night - Play your favorite tunes with a REAL band!

  • Spring/Early summer Concert - A relaxed, fun event. Students are encouraged to play duets and original compositions in addition to a foundation piece. We play games and enjoy a potluck, as well.

  • Additional performances in restaurants or nursing homes may be added throughout the year.

What if I have to cancel a lesson?

We ask for as much notice as possible for lesson cancellations. We will do our best to reschedule you for a different day within that week if you have to miss a lesson. No credit or reduced rate will be given if a make up time is not available.

Do you offer online piano lessons?

Yes! In circumstances where a family or adult student moves away, travels frequently, or is unable to attend the lesson, online lessons are an excellent and convenient option. Have you heard about the Simply Music© method but don’t have a local Simply Music© teacher? Contact us!

Do I need a piano?

You will need either an acoustic piano or a keyboard with a sustain pedal (rather than a button). A full-sized, 88-key keyboard is preferable. A piano is not needed for Music & Movement classes; all home materials are provided.

What’s my role as a parent?

As a studio parent, you have a front-row seat to your child’s musical journey. You attend each lesson with your child, and will even be invited to occasionally join us as we sing, tap, and clap.

You will also support your child at home in their practice - which is the most important part of learning to play music.

Your cheerleading and support will be key in helping your child to become a confident musician who loves to play music.

How often will I (or my child) need to practice at home?

In the beginning, it’s important to develop a healthy practice habit, so setting a consistent time to practice is key. Students are asked to practice five days a week. You can help to make practice fun by setting aside time to play for a parent, grandparent, or friend. This will help to make practice fun!

Are there any costs beyond tuition?

Piano materials used in lessons are an extra cost, and are needed about every three to four months.

How do I purchase materials?

Physical/digital (mailed to you) or Digital only (PDF printable)

Whichever option you choose, please bring your materials to class every week.
